The urgent need for healthcare reforms in America

America has been dealing with very challenging issues in healthcare, especially since the onset of the Corona virus pandemic. We had plenty of healthcare problems before the virus and will still have plenty when a vaccine is discovered for the novel corona virus. Dr. Matthew Boente MD understands the grievances of people who have been affected by this, and he believes that the solution is the urgent creation of other opportunities for individuals to be free of the high costs of deductibles and premiums.

It’s reassuring that leaders like Joe Biden have laid out a platform whose main priorities include alleviating the financial burden of said deductibles.

A key reform is the introduction of a public option for consumers seeking individual coverage on ACA exchanges. For instance, with a Medicare-like public option, people will have an alternative to private insurance. It is not meant to act as a replacement, although it is expected to give the private insurers some competition, which should compel them to lower their prices to a fair level that is more consumer-friendly.

For this to work even more effectively, it should be enhanced with income-based premium subsidies for insurance purchased on ACA exchanges. These will serve the low-income earning public better when they are scaled. In order to do this equitably, subsidies should be computed of the family income.

Many medical experts like Dr. Matthew Boente MD do not believe that the solution is to “repeal” the Affordable Care Act and create a new one altogether, because the law has truly made a lot of progress. As Joe Biden champions, the Affordable Care Act must remain, and other options need to be created for it to work successfully.
